We are destroying ourselves:
a dance wrecking

We are destroying ourselves: a dance wrecking is an event during which one artist publicly “wrecks” a 20-minute dance created by Rebecca Pappas and her collaborators. In Indianapolis both David Hochoy of Dance Kaleidoscope and Lauren Curry of Indianapolis Movement Arts Collective will wreck and remake these dances. Embedded in the invitation to destroy is a call to work collaboratively to disrupt patterns and legacies of colonization and white supremacy in dance. The wrecking is a compelling way to question received dance traditions; expose audiences to choreographic process; and explore what collective practices of decolonization can look like.

This event is presented in partnership with University of Indianapolis, Trinity College, and Big Car Collaborative.
