Join us for MADNESS II METHOD, our third and final Open Stage Performance of 2026, featuring Open Stage artists Sawyer Harvey, Koi Roi, & Sockie Phommachanh.
MADNESS II METHOD explores the space between improvisation and choreography; moving between chaos and structure, concert dance and street dance, freedom and repetition. In this performance, Koi and Sawyer utilize waving to bridge the gap between these contrasting elements!

Ten Tiny Dances is presented in partnership with Crossroads Dance Indy and is supported by Barnes & Thornburg. Ten Tiny Dances was created in Portland, Oregan in 2002 by Mike Barber and continues to be produced, with Mike's permission.
Ten Tiny Dances Indianapolis will feature dances by Crossroads Dance Indy, Indy Movement Arts, and 8 additional Indy choreographers. All dances will be peformed on a raised 4ft by 4fty platform outside in the courtyard at The Basile Opera Center.

Julie Becton Gillum, artistic director of the 14-year-running Asheville Butoh Festival, has been creating, performing, and teaching dance in the US, Europe, Asia, and Mexico for over 40 years. She has practiced butoh for 27 years. Julie has recently returned from training and performing in Japan with butoh masters Katsura Kan, Saga Kobayashi, Moe Yamamoto, Mari Osanai, Seisaku, and Yuri Nagaoka.

The Neon Black Festival was the first Black dance festival in Indianapolis. This one-of-a-kind event was hosted by Indianapolis Movement Arts Collective and made great by 10 local performing companies led by artists of color: Neon Black was joyful, powerful, excellent.

An Evening of Belly Dance featuring the amazing Amy Sigil (California), Brittney Laleh Banaei (Colorado), and dancers from all over the Midwest. Amy Sigil is a mover, coach, team builder and choreographer from Nothern California. Brittney Laleh Banaei is an Iranian-American dancer, scholar, bodyworker, and educator.

When Walking Becomes Dancing was an Informal Showing of the Somatic Roots of Creativity Mentorship Program. This program brought people of all walks of life and levels of dance experience together to explore and expand their own capacity to move, connect and create through the body. Lani Weissbach and workshop participants shared some of the somatic dance/movement processes that were explored in this four-workshop series.

The Crushing Weight of Absence is a work in progress solo dance piece by Andrea Garay that dialogues with the concept of absence in three different levels: what is not there, what has never been there, and with the absence left by loss in distinct ways. Andrea Garay is a Mexican performing artist and choreographer, with a formal education in contemporary dance and a huge interest in movement.

Indy Movement Arts and Liz Wray presented an evening of dance featuring belly dancers from all over the Midwest, and starring KAMRAH, Chicago's first trans masculine belly dancer and viral TikTok Star with over 3 million views! This show was body positive and inclusive of all genders, ages, and races. This engagement was supported by Arts Midwest.

Vangeline performed a new Butoh work, Eternity 123. Eternity 123 was presented in partnership with Big Car Collaborative and was part of the Spirit & Place Festival. Vangeline is a teacher, dancer, and choreographer specializing in Japanese butoh. She is the artistic director of the Vangeline Theater/New York Butoh Institute (New York).

Within the windows of the Basile Opera Center, each artist created their own poetic interpretation of winter, incorporating voice, movement, dance and/or theater. Gerry Trentham presented Yellow Scale, a 40-minute solo from his award-winning work, Four Mad Humours. Local dance theater artist Lani Weissbach presented The Truth About Mr. Duffy, performed by Lukas Schooler of NoExit Performance and Tanner Hronek, previously with Dance Kaleidoscope. The Indianapolis community will performed COMMUTE, an original work created by Gerry during his residency.
