Bethany Wells Bak holds a Bachelor of Fine and Applied Arts in Dance Performance from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a performer, teacher, and maker of contemporary dance in Indianapolis. She is proud to serve as the Director of Movement Education for IMAC.

 

Since moving to Indianapolis in 2016, Bethany has performed for Motus Dance Theatre, Rebecca Pappas, Stephanie Nugent, and NoExit Performance. She has presented new dance-works at Cultivate: An Emerging Choreographer Showcase and at Flourish: A Modern Dance Showcase. Her work was selected for live performance at the Midwest RAD Fest in 2018 and 2020.

 

Bethany is a co-founder of Dance Makers Workshop, alongside her collaborative partner Sarah Ledbetter. DMW, based in Memphis, TN, is a vehicle for the generation of  new dance material in a community setting through workshops, movement research, and performance. She was a member of Memphis’ Project:Motion Modern Dance Collective for four seasons and also served as the Class Coordinator for the Collective.
