Service Description

The practice of mindfulness, which can be defined as paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, nonjudgmentally, is a simple and profound method for everyone who seeks to feel greater ease and enjoyment in their lives. Some of the benefits of a mindfulness meditation practice include: *Gaining a foundation of calm and inner stability *Growing compassion for self and others *Gaining a wider and deeper insight into "unsolvable" problems, both professional and personal *Attaining more resilience in the face of crises or setbacks, and receiving successes and failures alike with acceptance and grace *Relief from physical pain, tension, and the effects of stress *Rediscovering enjoyment in the life you have Join us for the new offering led by Lani Weissbach, IMAC's Director of Embodied Learning, to explore these powerful, timeless teachings in community with others of like minds. Each weekly session will include: *A brief check-in *A short didactic talk on the theme of the week *A meditation (20-25 minutes) *Q & A/reflection period at the end Registration is required to attend this course. The 6-week course is limited to 15 participants. A cash donation of any amount will be gratefully accepted. This is completely optional, and everyone is welcome regardless of ability to pay. Chairs will be provided for each participant; however, if you prefer to sit on the floor (using a meditation cushion or bench), you are welcome to bring your own props. If you plan to sit on the floor, consider bringing an additional blanket for extra cushioning, as we will be on a carpeted but hard floor. Participants will be encouraged to cultivate a meditation practice outside of class, and tips on how to do this effectively will be shared. Please plan to wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing. This course is suitable for people of all levels of experience with meditation, and we welcome people of all ethnicities, races, genders, sexual orientation, abilities and spiritual inclinations.
