Service Description

In this era of extreme divisiveness and polarization, many of us may feel overwhelmed, numb or simply at a loss for how to find ease and peace in our lives or how to be in wise relationship to the conflicts and difficulties in our world. Yet the fundamental truth is that we are all interconnected – we are all in this together – and what we cultivate in our own hearts matters to all of us. Mindfulness practices are a profound way to help us realize this truth and mend these divides. We start where we are. In this new mindfulness meditation 4-part series, Lani will offer guidance in a variety of heart- centered meditation practices designed to develop our natural capacity for warmth, compassion and gladness towards ourselves and all of life. In this process, we notice the blocks to these states that may be present within us, and without judgement or rejection, we practice with whatever is here, with the recognition that what is already here is exactly what we need to nourish and to heal our hearts. Each 60-minute class will begin with a short talk on the theme of the week, followed by a guided meditation, with time for questions and reflections. The session may include some mindful movement centered around the theme of the week. Examples of weekly themes include but are not limited to: Self-compassion and compassion for others Metta (Lovingkindess) Gratitude/Generosity Forgiveness Joy/Delight Equanimity While there are great benefits to practicing meditation alone, the practice of meditation in community with others can provide a powerful sense of belonging and support on our path. Whether you have decades of experience with meditation or are a true beginner, please join Lani and fellow curious- minded humans for this unique opportunity to grow, learn and heal together.
